CESCHI
http://www.ceschimusic.com/
New Haven CT’s Ceschi (pronounced chess-key) Ramos makes his own version of progressive hip hop spliced with elements of folk & indie rock. Although he has almost “mathy” technical rap abilities, he’s a singer-songwriter at heart. One Ceschi song may consist of punk influenced machine gun fast raps, the next may be a quiet folk ballad played on acoustic guitar.

SAMMUS (Enongo Lumumba-Kasongo) is an upstate New York-based rap artist and producer with Congolese and Ivorian family roots. Since joining NuBlack Music Group in early 2012, she has been invited to perform at an official SXSW showcase (2015), as well as releasing two Bandcamp best-selling albums w. features from Open Mike Eagle and Chance Fischer, a collaborative EP w. nerdcore MC Random aka Mega Ran, two remastered video game instrumental EPs with DJ Cutman, a critically acclaimed beat tape, and a Kickstarter-funded Metroid EP. Her production is characterized by her use of uniquely chopped samples, and video game-like synths. As her Metroid-inspired name reflects, it is her hope that listeners and future fans will be pleasantly surprised by the contrast between the person society says she should be as an artist and who she actually is.

Formed in 2007 by singer / guitarist Mike Hill (Anodyne, Versoma) in Brooklyn, NY, Tombs blends a wide array of influences including Black Metal and dark industrial music. The band went through a number of line-up changes with Hill the only remaining original member. Former members included Domenic Seita (Storm of Light) and Carson Daniel James. The band’s prior Relapse output included a self-titled EP and a split 12-inch with like-minded, Germanic darkness weavers Planks. Both records were release on Hill’s now-defunct label Black Box Recordings. The band’s first two Relapse releases, 2009's “Winter Hours” and 2011's “Path of Totality” both received massive reception from the press with the latter being featured prominently on many critic’s year end metal lists including Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, NPR and MetalSucks. The crowning achievement was securing the 2011 album of the year for Decibel Magazine. In addition to their critically acclaimed releases, Tombs has become known for their captivating live performances and have toured extensively throughout North America and Europe with bands ranging from Isis, Pelican, Wolves in the Throne Room, The Secret and Kylesa.

“Savage Gold” the band’s third album on relapse continues Tombs’ journey into the realms of extremity. The lineup includes long-time drummer and co-writer Andrew Hernandez as well as new members bassist Ben Brand (Woe) and guitarist Garett Bussanick (Flourishing). This time around, the band has teamed up with renowned producer Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore, Hate Eternal) to record the band's most extreme release to date.

BLACK ANVIL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg_srLs2qn4
The New York Black Metal act have been blowing minds and eardrums since forming in 2007, but Black Anvil's third full-length, aptly titled Hail Death is their most epic and fully realized album to date. It's one of those rare releases that not only stays true to the band's roots but manages to transcend them in a way that works all of their seemingly disparate influences into an amalgam of heavy music that's as original as it is earth-shaking.

SCREAMING FEMALES
https://www.facebook.com/screamingfemales
http://www.screamingfemales.com/
Screaming Females had such a clear goal for their new album that it became almost a mantra: they wanted songs that were concise, crisp and melodic. That’s exactly what the New Jersey punk trio delivers on Rose Mountain, their sixth LP, due in February on Don Giovanni Records.

The album is a milestone in a number of ways. Not only does Rose Mountain reflect a new approach to the band’s songwriting, the LP marks the first time Screaming Females have worked with an outside producer, and comes as the trio celebrates 10 years together.

DEL PAXTON

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH7yQx9WClg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSWTjytuuoo
Buffalo, NY’s Del Paxton released their first EP "Worst. Summer. Ever." in August of 2013. During that that time the band played their worst shows and wrote their worst songs, but became the very best of bad friends.

Many bands in the ever fickle pop-punk or emo genre tend to tout their pureness of heartbreak, but not Del Paxton. Less weathered bands perform with the fresh optimism of the first winter snow. Del Paxton is the gritty morning commute. Their newest songs are short angsty brushes of fury. The brush that cuts across your windshield as your head counts seconds, the scrape across your headlights as you run out of time. Del Paxton captures the intensity of impending lateness.
