BABY DEE

One of the industry's most flamboyant musical discoveries of the last decade, Baby Dee is an enchanting song writer, classically trained harpist, circus sideshow veteran, and transgender street legend Her infectious cackle and extraordinary talent on piano, harp and accordion has caught her many musical admirers including Will Oldham, Matt Sweeney, Maxim Moston, and Andrew WK, all of whom have produced unique and magnificent albums for her.

Since its inception in 2007, the brainchild of Annie Lewandowski has grown from a band of one to one band: of color in a spectrum, of frequency between towers, of bodies reaching toward some abiding vision of nature. From these issue the voices, loves, and frayed truths that define the powerdove sound. Together with John Dieterich (of noise pop outfit Deerhoof) and Thomas Bonvalet (he of the solo project L’ocelle Mare), Lewandowski recently explored fresh yet somehow familiar territories on 2013’s Do You Burn?" Now, on "Arrest", she and her fellow travelers erase another border from the map.

Obody is the main vehicle for songs written by Rochester native Peter Vincent. While early incarnations of Obody featured a revolving cast of Ithaca and Rochester musicians, over the past three years the band has solidified into a fully formed band that includes Jason Calhoun (naps) on violin, percussionist/composer Sarah Hennies (formerly of The Weird Weeds and collaborator with Arnold Dreyblatt, Jandek, Ellen Fullman, etc.), Trumansburg mainstay Chris Ploss (Palleon, The Realbads, Kites In Space) on bass, and unofficial 5th member TJ Borden on cello. The groups debut full length "Is A Bridge / A Ready Place" (recorded by Ploss) is slated for release on Already Dead Records in late 2016 and is a one-hour tour de force collection of powerful, complex, dark, and touching songs.

Queer Sound Ithaca is a concert series curated and presented by Sarah Hennies (www.sarah-hennies.com) in Ithaca, NY. The series features artists who are working with sound in unusual and subversive ways with a focus on queer musicians and those working at the fringes of experimental music
